Last year, I shared some tips for beautifying your photos with BeFunky’s photo editor. Now I’m back with a few more tips on how to take your travel photos to the next level with BeFunky’s photo to art effects. BeFunky’s new photo effects allow you to turn boring pictures into beautiful works of art in a matter of minutes. If you’re looking for expressive images to display in your home or on your feed, channel your inner artiste and (with the click of a mouse) turn your travel photos into paintings, cartoons, sketches and more! Check it out below.
Paintings:
Ready, set, Gouache! My favorite photo-to-art effects are the painting options. You can choose from Gouache, oil painting, impressionist, watercolor and more. Below are a few pictures of my cat turned into impressionist paintings, then stitched into a collage using BeFunky’s collage maker (I may hang it on my mantle, don’t judge).
Cartoonizer:
Created in 2007, the Cartoonizer was BeFunky’s first effect, and it remains their most popular effect to this day. After playing around with the effect options, it’s easy to see why. You can choose from 5 patented cartoon effects, or check out their brand new Cartoonizer DLX in the Deluxe Edition Digital Art section. Below I “cartoonized” a recent travel photo using the Cartoonizer 1 effect. I also like how you’re able to control the amount of effect applied to the image. You’ll notice in the example below, I have the effect turned down slightly to preserve some details of the photo. This is great for customizing each effect to your liking.
Digital Art:
BeFunky’s new Deluxe Edition Digital Art filters feature remastered versions of several original effects, including the cartoonizer. 10 years after the launch of the original cartoonizer effects, BeFunky’s new Cartoonizer DLX uses the same rotoscoping technology to give photos a vibrant, colorful look with stark contrasts that is sure to impress.
Another effect I’m loving for my travel photos is the Impressionist DLX and watercolor DLX effects in the new Digital Arts section. I’ve found that both of these effects are especially great for landscape photos, making them perfect for anyone who wants to add a little more color and creativity to their travel images.

This is so cool! I will try the app to convert my photos into paintings. Perfect inspiration for my canvas and way easier to paint than looking at ‘real’ photos 🙂
I love the Impressionist effect – I can definitely see myself possibly using that effect to turn some photographs into wall hangings – Can’t wait to play around with it!
This is cool! I’ll definitely have to check it out!

So fun! I love the ones of your cat, especially the bottom right. It looks like a Van Goh!
I’ve never heard of BeFunky but it looks like you can do a lot with it! I never thought to transform my travel photos this way but it’s a great idea 🙂
This is great! I’ve always wondered what apps to these effects. I’m totally saving this for when I want to experiment with fun photo apps. The only ones I’ve used are for collages, not actually changing any of the pics.
Fun idea! I have been looking for art for our house and it’s usually either expensive and/or impersonal. I would love to print up some of my photos but sometimes the quality is not quite high enough–this app might hide that! 😉
